Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how TapBooks ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our bookkeeping software and website at http://localhost:3000 (the "Service").

Template notice: This policy is written for TapBooks' current beta product. Have qualified counsel review before general availability.

Information we collect

We may collect:

  • Account information — name, email address, and authentication credentials you provide when signing up.
  • Business and bookkeeping data — receipts, expense records, business profile details, and related files you upload or create in the Service.
  • Usage data — logs, device type, browser, and how you interact with features (for security, support, and product improvement).
  • Payment information — when billing is enabled, payment details are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.

How we use information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process receipts and generate bookkeeping organization (including AI-assisted extraction)
  • Authenticate your account and protect against abuse
  • Send transactional emails (e.g. password reset, accountant package sharing)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

Storage and processors

Your data may be stored and processed using cloud infrastructure and third-party services (e.g. hosting, database, object storage, email delivery, and AI providers) necessary to operate the Service. We require appropriate safeguards from subprocessors.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data when you explicitly request it (for example, sending a month-end package to your accountant), with service providers who help us operate the Service, or when required by law.

Retention and security

We retain information while your account is active and as needed for legal, security, or operational purposes. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data; no system is completely secure.

Your choices

You may access, update, or delete account information through the Service where available, or contact us through the support email shown in your account settings. You may opt out of non-essential communications.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate.
